Alice Saland

Alicethenics was created as a unique physical fitness program which serviced fortune 500 companies in New York City. This fitness program kept many busy people fit in their workplace. Classes were held at lunch time or after work hours. Alicethenics gathered her knowledge in fitness and took the role of an aerobics instructor at Biofitness Institute in Manhattan. She also wrote featured fitness tips for McCall's Magazine. Alice volunteered at a radio station for the visually impaired in Arizona. There she produced a radio show Alicethenics Exercises for The Visually Impaired. In the 90's Alice became a certified fitness trainer, specializing in fitness for women. In 99' she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Post surgery, Alice could not lift her left arm. She had a lumpectomy and axillary node dissection on the left side. She researched and developed exercises to rehab the left side of her body. She designed a weekly class for breast cancer survivors at St.Vincent Hospital Santa Fe, NM. This class was based on her exercise regime post breast surgery. At this time, Alice approached Astrazeneca Pharmaceutical to produce an exercise video based on her class to gift as a premium item to oncologists, oncology centers and hospitals. They ordered 20,000 videos and gave them away for four years. Alice produced, directed, wrote and acted in this video while going through radiation. It was released in 2000. She became a professional speaker and an expert in recovery post breast cancer surgery. In 2020 she was asked to stream her video to reach modern day audiences. Before the pandemic, Alice had her website redesigned and hired a crew who shot a modern version of her original video in high definition. Presently she is collaborating with a very young woman, a savvy social media artist. So stay tuned for a modernized Alicethenics 2022.
