I assisted a psycholinguistic study conducted by the Bristol Centre for Linguistics on a part-time basis. The tasks I carried out while assisting this study involved the following: Transcribed spoken scripted and non-scripted audio. Completed analysis of earlier linguistic research to inform the research study. Edited multimodal content and developed creative copy.

My dissertation project focused on the relationship between language and consumerism, and, in turn, how it implicitly promotes unsustainable practices. I achieved a first class grade on this project that combined psycholinguistics with corpus linguistics. This saw me completing a corpus analysis followed by a qualitative study to unpick the effect of euphemisms on the psychological paradigm known as cognitive dissonance.
