Asim AlGhamdi

Asim AlGhamdi is an internationally recognized expert with over 20 years of leadership in Geospatial Information Management, Digital Transformation, and Strategic Planning. Throughout his career, he has played a pivotal role in the transformation of the geospatial sector in Saudi Arabia, serving in senior executive positions such as the Assistant President of the Saudi Arabian General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information and the Secretary-General of the National Committee for Geographic Information Systems. His influence extends globally as the Secretary-General of the UN-GGIM for Arab States and the Co-Chair of the United Nations Working Group on Policy and Legal Frameworks for Geospatial Information. A leading voice in international forums, he has headed national delegations to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and contributed to the development of the UN Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF). AlGhamdi holds an Executive Master’s from the University of Redlands, California, and a Digital Excellence Diploma from IMD Business School, Switzerland. His distinguished contributions were globally celebrated in 2024 when he was named "Geospatial Ambassador of the Year" at the Geospatial World Forum in the Netherlands.
