RTIM project for Nav Canada (2010 to 2017.) I was team leader (Scrum Master) for the RTIM project, and responsible for the introduction of the Agile methodology to the team. I was initially hired to improve the code stability, reusability, performance and over-all design of the system monitoring and configuration application. I championed techniques such as “continuous integration”, “unit testing” and “refactoring.” Technologies: Java Swing, MySQL & Hibernate, TCP, XML, JUnit, Git, SVN, Ant, Cruise Control and Team City. I was also involved in implementing features for the radio gateway. Technologies: Embedded C++ on PPC processor, Linux. VCS-21 project for the U.S. FAA and U.K. NATS (2012 to 2017.) I was team leader (Scrum & Kanban) for a team for one year. I helped the developers with the challenges of international software development, with teams located in Canada, the US, Australia and Sweden. I was heavily involved in the implementation and maintenance of the graphical user interface for the FAA’s and NATS’ next generation air-traffic control solution as well as the safety analysis efforts. Technologies: Embedded C++ on ARM processor, Embedded Qt, C#, LDAP, PostgreSQL, Linux, SVN.

NuPoint Unified Messaging, release 8.5 to 14.0 (2003 to 2010) I was responsible for the architecture and implementation of large portions of the NuPoint Unified Messaging Server's web GUIs. Technologies: Apache Struts framework, J2EE, JSP, JavaScript and AJAX. I designed and wrote most of the web services that other teams within the company use to interact with the product. Technologies: C/C++, SOAP and Apache Axis. I designed and implemented a graphical wizard-like installation program that helps vendors install the NuPoint software with a few clicks of the mouse. Technologies: Java Swing, SSH. I worked on the many Unified Messaging features of the product, implementing whole portions and adding capabilities to others. Technologies: MIME, SMTP, IMAP, VPIM, LDAP, Microsoft's Active Directory and Exchange, Lotus Domino, Qnx, Linux and RPM. I introduced automated unit testing to the team and managed extensive test suites, as well as a Continuous Integration server. Technologies: Apache Ant, JUnit, Cruise Control, ClearCase, Git and Continuus. Speak@Ease, release 2.0 to 5.0 (2000 to 2003) I implemented and enhanced large portions of the Speak@Ease voice user interface (speech recognition), including the Unified Messaging feature. I was also a key player in the internationalization efforts. Technologies: VoiceXML, IMAP, MIME, XSLT. I refactored and improved data synchronization services between the Speak@Ease service and other network elements. Technologies: LDAP, SQL and XML.
