Hays Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hays plc, which has been at the forefront of the global recruitment industry for over fifty five years. We provide permanent, contract and temporary staffing services at all levels, with over 2,500 placements each year and growing, as well as workforce solutions such as RPO and MSP. As part of the North American Legal and Compliance team, I assist the organization to navigate complex legal matters including those related to employee lifecycles, contract negotiation, and corporate dealings.

An employment and labour lawyer specializing in supporting organizations through complex legal issues. Daily this meant supporting an employer with wrongful dismissal claims, human rights claims, workplace insurance claims, disability claims, union related matters, or advising on workplace employment matters. I prepared pleadings, affidavits, factums, legal briefs and board or tribunal responses. In addition to legal advice, I prepared and reviewed employment agreements, consulting agreements, workplace policies, and termination letters.

I successfully completed a 10 month articling placement with George Waggott Professional Corporation specializing in Employment and Labour Law. Upon completing these 10 months, I successfully completed the Lawyer Licensing Program with the Law Society of Ontario and was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2020.

Through my new role on the Business Development team, my main goal was to help drive Hays Specialist Recruitment revenue growth through various sales and networking techniques. I collaborated with many internal teams to build client target lists and support field sales activity. Once reaching prospective clients, I used my industry knowledge and expertise to advise our new contacts on our resources available to them both through current recruitment projects and those planned for future dates.

During my summer break from the University of Edinburgh, I resumed my position as an Account Manager at Hays Specialist Recruitment in Toronto on the Office Professionals team. The Office Professionals division of Hays Specialist Recruitment specializes in the placement of Office Professionals into non-IT contract positions. The team works with organizations in any industry and provides specialized support for all levels within those organizations. I specialized in contract recruitment of Office Professionals in any non-IT related role. Hays recent placements include Administrative or Executive Assistants, Receptionists, Data Entry Specialists, Customer Service Representatives, Bilingual Office Professionals, Lawyers, Legal Assistants, Accountants, Financial Analysts, Accounts Payable Specialists, Accounts Receivable Specialists, and Accounting Clerks.

During this time I was a Key Account Manager specializing in IT contract recruitment across the Toronto region and beyond. I worked with exceptional individuals within the technology sector, with a primary focus on partnering with candidates and clients by using the depth and breadth of my expertise along with my vast market and recruitment knowledge to make the best match. Attended the University of Edinburgh, enrolled in the 2 year Graduate LLB program. First Year courses included: Contract and Unjustified Enrichment, Critical Legal Thinking, European Union Law, Family Law, International Law, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Public Law in the UK and Scotland, Scottish Legal System. Second Year courses included: Criminal Law, Business Entities, Commercial Law, Property Law, Jurisprudence, Delict, Succession and Trust Law, Public Law and Individual Rights, Law of Evidence, and Employment Law. As the President of the Graduate Law Society (2017 - 2018) I lead a committee of 7 peers while we organised both social and academic events for the students and faculty in the Graduate LLB program. We proactively represented the student body at key round table meetings with the heads of both the Law School and University as a whole.

I completed my 4 year Bachelor of Arts program with a Minor in Business in April 2014. While at Dalhousie I was an active member on several societies, including Dal Dance and the Dalhousie Rowing Club. I was also an Orientation Week Leader and volunteered at several Dalhousie Open Houses. While at Dal, I took a variety of courses to broaden my knowledge of both Sociology and Business and will carry this knowledge with me into the working world.

I spent a semester abroad at the University of Hull from September - December 2013. During this time, I was able to expand my learning to an international level and participate in various culturally enriching activities. I was an active member on the Dance Society, where I danced in several numbers and choreographed a routine for the December performance.
