Designing/assembling components for surgical robot arms used for CT-assisted lung cancer biopsies/treatments

Made a new class website https://ucsd-ecemae-148.github.io/ Recompiled a simulator used in the class to run on ARM macs and wrote documentation for how to set it up, which substantially reduced lines for the lab computers Hosted office hours where I helped students debug hardware and software issues on miniature autonomous vehicles Lectured to the class about topics like training a deep learning model on the UCSD GPU cluster or tuning PID controllers Repaired several broken $300 GPS modules by re-flashing the bootloader and firmware Repaired/replaced many electronic speed controllers, buck converters, jetson nano microprocessors, brushless motors, and other autonomous car kit components.

I am TAing two sections of ENG 100L: Design for Development this quarter. In the Baja Solar section, I am leading discussion sections, lab periods, and trips to the children’s home in Tijuana where we are building a solar powered water heater. As a student last quarter, we rebuilt plumbing, changed the pump controller code, and fixed issues with the electronics for a solar water heater at Casa Hogar de Maria Inmaculada children’s home in Tijuana. In the One Village Philippines section, I am leading discussion sections, lab periods and helping students complete the project of designing a makerspace for the Gawad Kalinga nonprofit in the Philippines which we will travel to build in the summer.

Prototyped a new hydrophone (underwater microphone) design that will be used to listen to marine life Gained experience in electronics design, construction techniques for making waterproof electronics enclosures, and micro-soldering Learned about methods for researching marine life using acoustic data
