Facilitate communication to ensure satisfaction between our 5 partner schools (170+ students), our China Office and Chinese Parents; Establish and maintain relationships with current and prospective partner schools; Coordinate academic guidance for students throughout each school; Serve as administrator for our Student Information System (SIS); Train staff on SIS, cultural awareness and working with youth; Contact parents directly with behavioral or academic problems and support; Act as delegation coordinator for groups coming from Chinese schools and agencies.

Facilitate communication between our 5 partner schools and WIA staff & management, special project management such as immunizations and insurance payment management for our student population of 150+, alumni follow up, coordination of city and school tours for students' parents as well as delegation groups of up to 25 visitors from China.

Monitoring students' grades, creating strategies aimed at assisting students succeed academically as well as setting parameters for Study Hall, oral interpretation work with parents at schools, itinerary coordination for delegation groups from China, and providing support to partner schools with regard to college planning.

Assist high school students from China in order to acclimate them to American culture. This includes exercising my Chinese ability in order to provide students and visitors with a more comprehensive understanding of local culture and customs, planning and subsequent chaperoning of trips to various places throughout the Milwaukee area, supervising study hall hours, and mentoring of students with regard to future education plans.

Went door to door and high volume areas promoting environmental protections. The position was based on a quota system with little room for failure.

Upper level Mandarin Chinese studies including an intensive newspaper reading course, the study of Taiwanese/Chinese thought and society, as well as various supplementary classes, such as idioms and Chinese proverbs and popular TV shows. Also travelled alone extensively throughout the six months there, gaining a unique perspective of local culture.

While in China I developed relationships with classmates from over 20 countries, was exposed to areas of sensitivity and experienced how to bridge cultural differences, all while studying daily outside of class time with a Chinese student which improved my proficiency in a 2nd language, and allowed me to gain first-hand experience of another culture.
