Proofread and edit writing of all kinds, including business emails, short stories, and graduate levels theses. Assist writers in ensuring that their writing is mechanically sound, proofreading for punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Edit pieces of writing for content, making sure the writing is clear, concise, and well organized. Occasionally re-write copy to better deliver the message that the client intends.

Working under the Administrative Support Coordinator, Administrative Analyst, and Department Chair to facilitate the day-to-day operation of the department. Use Adobe Acrobat to create and edit PDFs to be distributed throughout the department. Direct contact with faculty to help create teaching schedules and course catalogs for the following semester. Using Excel to track lecturer preferences, inventory, and other factors in order to better prepare for the following semester. Basic clerical work such as copying, filing, and distributing documents.

Assist students of all levels in planning, writing, and revising their written work, focusing especially on the revision process. Help students develop quality research and citation habits. Assuring students’ work meets assignment requirements, including adhering to style guides. Troubleshoot common writing issues like writer’s block and finding authoritative sources.
