Through my participation as a Financial Analysis Intern, I was selected to take part in the Wealth Management Internship program to learn in depth about the various investment vehicles and asset allocation strategies used by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Advisors. The final presentation of the internship included presenting a comprehensive asset allocation strategy developed for a prospective client. In addition, I worked closely with one of the advisors to research and develop a comprehensive competitive analysis report on local accounting firms and law firms to recommend to clients.

The Financial Analysis Internship program consisted of weekly workshops covering financial analysis fundamentals led by a financial advisor with over 20 years of experience managing a portfolio of over 100MM. Through the program, I acquired knowledge in equity valuation methods using technical and fundamental analysis, including developing and executing a comprehensive research project evaluating and forecasting major companies in the pharmaceutical industry.

While studying abroad, I had the opportunity to intern at Focus Media (分众传媒) to learn about marketing and advertising strategies. The growth of the luxury product market in China was particularly interesting to me so I completed a research project on the topic leveraging macro and micro economic factors to forecast China's economic growth and subsequently its demand for luxury products, particularly those from the West.

The Business and Economics program dove deep into China's economic environment, business fundamentals, and consumer behavior. The major theme covered in this program was the importance of Guanxi (关系) in doing business in China. The Joint Center for International Studies (JCIS) program focused on globalization of world economies and its impact on China's future during the infancy of China's rise to become an economic powerhouse on the world stage. One of the many interesting social topics covered in the program was the Hukou (戶口) system, and the class was divided into groups to complete research project on migrant workers, which involved interviewing migrant workers across multiple industries.
