Richard Rowlands

Richard brings a full range of elder law and estate planning experience to Rowlands, LeBrou & Griesmer, PLLC. He has extensive experience in estate planning, elder law, taxation, estate and trust administration, estate litigation, business law and real estate law. Richard has successfully litigated a variety of will contests in various NYS Surrogate's Courts, as well as cases involving abuse of powers of attorney and removal of executors and trustees. Furthermore, Richard is a published author and has frequently written, lectured and presented seminars about elder law and real estate law issues. He is a contributing editor of Drafting New York Wills (Matthew Bender) and author of Chapter 18 on "Retirement and Estate Planning." Prior to co-founding Rowlands, LeBrou & Griesmer, PLLC. Richard served as Partner in the Trusts & Estates department of a local law firm and was Of Counsel to the prestigious area law firm, Girvin & Ferlazzo, where he practiced elder law and estate planning. Richard is a graduate of the University of Rochester, the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School and Submarine School, and the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College. He received his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University where he was awarded membership in the prestigious Justinian Society. He is a retired Brigadier General on the New York State Retired List.
