Alain Durand
Regional Medical Assistance Leader @ Fullerton Health
About
Executing 3,500 emergency missions teaches you more than just technical skills—it transforms how you see the world. For me, it profoundly shaped my leadership style and the business leader I am today. Rooted in resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference, I approach every challenge with the urgency and focus I first learned as a paramedic. Every day, I channel that same sense of purpose to advocate for healthcare access in all its forms. Whether responding to crises or addressing ongoing well-being needs, I have spent 16 years working across Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and Papua New Guinea, relentlessly ensuring healthcare reaches as many people as possible. Health has always been the cornerstone of human progress. Guided by the mindset of a first responder, I strive to craft innovative and sustainable healthcare solutions that meet today’s demands while laying the foundation for future generations.

Experience

General Manager
Jakarta, Indonesia
Pioneer SME in B2B Healthcare Services in Indonesia, addressing medical needs for both MNC and local businesses. As head of all business units, including Medical & Travel Assistance, Clinics, and Remote Site Medical Services, I led a team of 145 professionals across the Indonesian archipelago. Achievements: Strategic Vendor Development: Designed and implemented a systematic approach, securing pre-qualification as a vendor for 80% of O&G supermajors and 70% of other key players in the extraction industry. Increased tender participation from an average of 12 to over 20 per year. Key Account Success: Successfully acquired and renewed two major accounts with a combined value exceeding USD 1.3 million. Operational Excellence: Managed 32 onsite clinics and engaged with key local stakeholders in remote areas. Implemented stringent OPEX controls, achieving an EBITDA of +22% alongside steady top-line growth of +17%. Service Innovation: In collaboration with clients, co-created a Mobile Medical Check-Ups concept, enabling onsite medical examinations for thousands of workers. This innovation reduced costs, enhanced quality, and minimized work hour losses, ensuring uninterrupted operations in the high-stakes extraction industry. Integrated Healthcare Solutions: Addressed the challenges of a fragmented healthcare system by launching the first Occupational Health clinic in Jakarta and establishing a call center supporting nearly 1 million policyholders. These initiatives solidified our position as a leader in integrated healthcare, streamlining services and delivering significant value to clients.

Operations Manager - 144 Emergency Medical Disptach (EMD)
Geneva, Switzerland
Urgences-Sante 144 is the EMD providing Geneva population with Pre-Hospital Emergency Care in dispatching appropriate response teams (ambulances, helicopters, doctors, etc.). Managing 15 staffs who were answering 60’000 calls and coordinating over 18’000 urgent missions per year, fine-tuning PPP with key-actors from the pre-hospital care industry, I developed my leadership and organizational skills under tremendous pressure and exposure. I worked on special projects, notably cross-border collaboration with French Emergency Services, and medical organization of EURO 2008 football tournament. Achievements: We relied on manual processes, causing inefficiencies in managing urgent calls. Implementing a Dispatch Assistance System cut the call-to-dispatch time by 55%, reducing turnaround by nearly 2 minutes and proving IT innovation a game-changer. Ensuring equal access to emergency care was challenging. By reviewing team distribution and response times, we aligned our set-up to serve the population effectively.

Paramedic
144 RD-Dupont Ambulance Service
Geneva, Switzerland
Working for a private Ambulance Service Company, part of the 144 Emergency network of accreditated EMS. I performed 3’500 emergency missions, 1’700 inter-hospitals transports and 1’300 International assistance missions.
