While serving as an IRS officer in the Income Tax Deptt, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, for 34 years, I held very senior positions in the IRS in leadership & Supervisory roles, requiring administrative management, Strategic planning, creating synergies for Implementation & enforcement of various fiscal laws such as Direct tax laws, Prohibition of Benami Property transactions Act, Black Money Act, etc,. My job profile also allowed me opportunity to acquire working knowledge of other allied laws also including Company Act 2013, SEBI Regulations, Indian Evidence Act, C.P.C, Cr. PC, etc. In the IRS, I also gained expertise in examination of financial statements & Tax audit Reports of corporate entities, monitoring of regulatory compliances, interpretation of tax treaties on cross border transactions and transfer pricing implications, interpretation on the matters of law & jurisprudence, pleadings before Income Tax Appellate Tribunals, use of data & technology in detecting tax violations, capacity building for teams, etc During my service I was designated to supervise the tax administration, more specifically supervision of the Search & Seizure operations under the Income Tax Act while working as DGIT(Inv). I had also been associated with supervision of work areas related to Tax Deduction at Source in the jurisdiction of Mumbai as CCIT(TDS). In the past, I have been associated for 4 years in the field of supervision of search assessments as PCIT Central, and 5 years in the field of International Taxation and implementation of Tax Treaties as CIT(DR) ITAT and CIT(Intl Txn) Mumbai amongst vast experience in other aspects of tax administration. Post retirement, I have recently been appointed as member of the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) under Section 245MA of the Income Tax Act with headquarters in Pune. I also have keen interests in legal research, finding solutions through an analytical approach, and to pass my acquired skills and experience to a wider interest group through a hand-holding approach.
