Aimi Zulhazmi is a well-known economic and finance commentator, often sought after by Malaysian media, government bodies, and GLCs to demystify policies, economic trends, and social impact issues for the public. With over 33 years of experience across banking, oil & gas, wealth management, and academia, he brings a rare blend of practical and scholarly insights. Aimi began his career in banking with Standard Chartered before moving into the oil & gas sector with Mobil Oil and BP, and later into Islamic finance and trustee services as CEO of BIMB Trust Labuan. He later expanded his wealth management expertise in Indonesia and today serves as Associate Professor of Finance and Islamic Finance at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL). Aimi holds a PhD in Islamic Wealth Management, several international certifications and presently completing his Doctorate in Business Administration in Strategic Management. He has made over a thousand media appearances across RTM, TV3, Astro, Bernama, and newspapers as well as international media in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and GCC countries. His ability to translate complex financial and economic topics into accessible narratives has made him a go-to Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for national conversations. He also serves on boards and committees, including Malaysia’s largest Islamic private trustee in Wasiyyah and the Majlis Agama Islam Perlis and Selangor. Aimi Zuhazmi was awarded in May 2022 by his majesty Raja Perlis with honorary medal, Member of the Perlis Crown (Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perlis) known as AMP for his contribution to the society. In May 2025, he received the prestigious MARA Excellence Educator Award for his contribution to the organization and society. He was recently accepted as Fellow of the prestigious the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) UK.
