Co-Founder & CEO @ Spanly

About

I am a researcher and entrepreneur working at the intersection of sustainable construction, climate resilience, and digital innovation. I co-founded Spanly, a deep-tech startup developing AI-driven tools for natural hazard risk assessment. Our platform leverages satellite imagery, façade photos, and building data to evaluate the vulnerability of structures to hazards such as floods, rainfall, hail, windstorms, and earthquakes. By generating risk scores and providing optimized retrofitting recommendations, we help governments, insurers, and real estate companies make informed decisions that reduce losses and strengthen resilience. My academic background in civil and structural engineering, together with my ongoing doctoral research at BOKU University, focuses on the development of timber building materials and advanced methods for modelling and structural design. This work has led to several international publications and conference contributions, bridging material science with applied engineering. What drives me is the ability to translate scientific research into real-world impact, transforming complex risk data into practical, scalable solutions that support safer, more sustainable built environments.
