I currently lead an initiative on long-term vulnerability assessment and climate adaptation plan for the Water Enterprise. This a co-production between SFPUC experts and researchers at UMASS Amherst, National Center for Atmospheric Research and Deltares. We used complex modeling experiments to discover future conditions leading to vulnerabilities in the regional water supply system. Now we want to assess the level of concern for these conditions.

In my current position at San Francisco Water, I am part of the Office of the General Manager for Water and I advise decision-makers (Division managers and GM) on water supply and demand forecasting, short- and mid-term reservoir system operations, water rights, flow requirements below our dam, water supply planning and climate change impacts. San Francisco Water is an enterprise of the SF Utilities Commission responsible for water supply of 2.6 million people in the San Francisco Bay Area. I also supervise a small team of engineers.

My work at Deltares focused on climate change adaptation and decision-making under deep uncertainty for large water infrastructure systems. Piloting the dynamic adaptation policy pathways to SFPUC Regional Water System.

I worked on a variety of projects in the United States, Thailand and France. My responsibilities included defining scope of works, establishing budgets, developing expert models in hydrology, river hydraulics to respond to clients issues in the area of flood control, ecosystem restoration, impacts of desalination, dams and water supply. Project management.

Physics and chemistry teacher.

Developed and calibrated HEC-HMS hydrologic model of the Anacostia River Basin, Maryland (USA). The model was used to develop flood discharge exceedance frequency curves. The frequency curves were used to evaluate the flood protection of the levee system.

Specialization in surface water hydrology and water management. Thesis project on rainfall-runoff simulations of Anacostia River Basin for estimating flood frequency curves at the US Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center in Davis, California.
