Personal Statement: Adaptable and enthusiastic scientist with over 15 years of translational research experience. Self-driven, organized, team player, experienced with interdisciplinary projects. My ultimate goal is to integrate my accumulated scientific and preclinical knowledge to advance strategic medicine and patient outcomes. Current projects in my group focus on understanding melanoma metastasis to the brain. Professional Highlights: -Ph.D. in Pathology and Molecular Medicine -Proven success in project development, staff management, project completion; resulting in senior authored publications. - Successfully developed and managed multidisciplinary scientific projects with: • clinical investigators • pharmaceutical companies • academic partners (national and international) • biotechnology startup companies - Co-investigator on multiple NIH and DFG funded projects -Canada, USA, Germany: extensive onsite scientific research experience in the academic setting for each. Short-term contract: Calcium and redox signaling mechanisms play key roles in the regulation of many cellular processes including proliferation, migration, survival. However, these mechanisms are not fully understood, particularly with regards to their interactions and their physiological, but also pathological roles. We currently have two main research areas in which we aim to understand how calcium and redox signals regulate skin and skin cancer biology, as well as immunity. Laboratory moved to Göttingen October 2016.

PhD candidate: • Identified proteins and signaling pathways involved in SV40 Large T antigen-mediated cell transformation. • Showed that Hsp90N is one of the first chaperones with oncogenic properties. Demonstrated that cell-to-cell adhesion alone causes a dramatic increase in the activity of Stat3 in carcinoma as well as normal epithelial cells and fibroblasts. • Demonstrated that SVLT also activates Stat3 at all levels of cell density, and that Stat3 is required for SVLT function. • Identified proteins and pathways involved in adenovirus E1A-mediated cell transformation. • Optimized in situ electroporation techniques to study gap junctional communication and the use of blocking peptides to inhibit signaling pathways.
