About
Dr. Adil Al-Busaidi is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Center at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Oman. He also served as the Head of the Oman Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology. With over 20 years of international experience in education, research, and innovation, Dr. Al-Busaidi has held several key roles, including Network Engineer, Director of Research & Innovation at the Oman Smart City Platform, and Academic Director at renowned institutions such as the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University and the Oman Royal Academy of Management. He has significantly contributed to the development of national strategies, strategic priorities, and the long-term vision for Oman’s future. Dr. Al-Busaidi has been instrumental in driving national Open Innovation initiatives, where he led and mentored participants in numerous hackathons, datathons, and boot camps at both national and regional levels. His leadership extends to managing cross-functional teams and actively participating in think tanks, national committees, and transformative initiatives focused on innovation and sustainable development. He was invited as a reviewer and evaluator by local and international organizations such as Municipality E-Government Assessment, Public Institutions and Digital Government, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, UN. Dr. Al-Busaidi received his Ph.D. from Ohio University in 2014; two Masters's degrees from Ohio University in 2012 and New Mexico State University in 2007; and a BSc from Sultan Qaboos University in 2004. Dr. Al-Busaidi is a recipient of several awards, such as the Sharjah Award for best doctoral thesis in Administrative Science in the Arab World, the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) in 2016, and several best teacher awards at the college and university levels. His work has appeared in journals like Technological Forecasting & Social Change, International Journal of Information Management, Internet Research, Journal of Innovation & Knowledge, Behaviour & Information Technology, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Frontiers, Technology in Society, and Education and Information Technologies.

A certificate of specialization in entrepreneurship and innovation helps to assess new business opportunities and use creativity to take initial ideas and turn them into successful, groundbreaking business ventures. This journey of three different courses in (1) Design Thinking and Innovation, (2) Disruptive Strategy, and (3) Launching Tech Ventures helped me assess new business opportunities, harness innovation, and grasp tools & methods that help to transform ideas into viable ventures.

Disruptive Strategy is a 6-week, 30-hour online certificate program from Harvard Business School Online. Disruptive Strategy helps students become fluent in disruption theory and gain confidence in articulating complex viewpoints, apply strategic frameworks to assess new opportunities and potential threats, and acquire techniques for executive-level strategy formulation and team management. The program was developed by leading Harvard Business School faculty and is delivered in an active learning environment based on the HBS signature case-based learning model.
