Well, my current role is a hard one to write a description for. The only thing I know for sure is everyday will be different! RPC is a very dynamic organization involved in a huge variety of science and engineering disciplines serving customers near and far. Some days I'm doing what you would expect... debits, credits and bank reconciliations, but other days I may be coordinating with subcontractors to repair a roof blown off in a tropical storm. There really is no end to the variety. The learning curve has been steep and I am often out of my comfort zone, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love the opportunity I have every day to be involved, make decisions, and work with such a great group of people!

While with the Office of the Auditor General of NB I was responsible for execution of files from planning through completion, consulting with auditees on various issues including change of framework, and supervising junior staff. I was also involved with the UFE preparation process, mentoring students preparing for the national CA exam.

I've participated in the UFE marking centre as a marker for 2 years. As a UFE Marker, I worked with a team of fellow Chartered Accountants to evaluate examinations of CA candidates. This was a highly team based activity focused on consistency, both with oneself and with the team, while also exercising professional judgement to appropriately award candidate’s responses which vary significantly from one to the next.

As a senior accountant with the KPMG Public Sector Audit Practice in Ottawa I was responsible for engagement planning, engagement execution, and completion as well as supervising teams and liaising between client contacts and engagement management.

As a junior accountant at Hendry Warren, I have been responsible for completion of client files, from initial contact through the issuance of financial statements and filing of tax returns. I have also prepared a variety of tax planning projects and correspondence with the Canada Revenue Agency on behalf of clients. My work involves a variety of both independent and collaborative projects. Frequently used software includes: Microsoft Office Suite, Caseware, and Taxprep.

Worked as a teaching assistant for various beginner and intermediate accounting courses throughout my degree. Tasks involved: classroom instruction to small groups, development of instructional materials, one-on-one assistance to students, and grading of assignments, etc.

Dean's List, Teacher's Assistant
