I am currently a PhD candidate and full-time Graduate Research Assistant in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery. I am specializing in Biomaterials, Drug Delivery and Tissue Engineering. With graduation soon approaching I am seeking a research position in industry further my scientific endeavors. My graduate work has developed my expertise in the synthesis and characterization of polymeric materials for theranostic purposes. I have developed novel biodegradable biomimetic polymers that are visible via MRI that can be formed into films, coatings, and nanoparticles. In particular my dissertation research focuses on the development of multi-drug delivery, MRI-visible coatings for bioresorbable stents. The drive for the development of these coatings stems from the strong need for the design and improvement of biodegradable medical devices for pediatric applications such as cardiovascular and airway diseases. It is my goal to continue new learning techniques and using creative inspiration to contribute to the greater knowledge of science.
