Focusing on solving some developer infrastructure/productivity problems for Google search developers along with my team.

Building new set of teams in US and in Bangalore, India on improving sustainability of Google Search Serving Infrastructure. Built an organization from 3+ to now 100+ across 3 sites (2 sites in US and in Bangalore).

Currently leading Engineering Productivity efforts for Application Modernization Platform effort within Google Cloud Platform. Running an org of 140+ across 5 offices (over 15+ Engineering Managers), directly managing Sr Engineering managers, an Engineering Director and a Senior Staff SWE.

Building developer infrastructure for 300+ developers for Google Anthos. Built a team from just myself and 3 engineers to over 35+ across 3 (Sunnyvale, Seattle, Waterloo (canada)) sites. Managing managers and strong ICs (staff/sr staff). Working with cross functional leads on product management, product engineering, program management, customer engineering leads as well with other GCP leaders.

Responsible for architecting developer infrastructure for 200+ developers working on Anthos. Prior to that responsible for re-architecting many tools and infrastructures within Google Cloud Platform used by developers to make them massively scalable (1000+ engineers). Incubated, guided many projects which are now publicly known like KUnit. Also built/scaled teams from 8 to 50+ over 3 different sites.

Responsible for building hermetic integration testing platform which allows developers to model subset of GCP in a sandboxed environment for their experimentation. This is now used by over 40+ teams, 3000+ engineers by not just by GCP but also by ML, Devices and many Ads products. Also built a team from scratch to 10 engineers.

Overall contributions on engineering side: - Active cofounder: Focussed on brainstorming of the idea/design/implementation and all the features so far in Trail Answers. - Implementation: Significant code written on android/iOS and tools for troubleshooting data/users/requests. - Talking to users: Understanding their use cases, things they like/don't like etc - Many other business related activities.

Worked on software running in datacenters within Google. My focus was on software that runs on single machine in a datacenter, work on new hardware qualification for prod use, managed a team of 10 FTEs with many other cross functional dependencies. Highlights of technical work include: - Designed/implemented and deployed an innovative way to test operating system used within Google. The infrastructure is now used by almost all kernel developers, dramatically improving quality of OS used within datacenter. - Active collaboration with SREs/support to co-ordinate release of features to production and work with them on debugging/reproducing production issues - Active involvement in qualification of pretty much all hardware deployed in datacenters - Development of tools and infrastructure to dramatically improve velocity of software releases to prod and to monitor problems - Hiring activities: Grew the team from 6 to 10 engineers, hired and mentored many interns who are now full time engineers at Google, conducting interviews/representing Google at college events etc - Many other stuff which I can't put here...

Worked on storage systems used within Google (GFS, Bigtable, next generation distributed file system to replace GFS -- Colossus) and many other related/dependent infrastructures. Worked on design/development of features, test infrastructure, modeling application workloads etc. Primarily worked on C++ and Python. Managed a team of 6 engineers from october 2011 to January 2012.

Worked on ads/billing systems used for google ads. Worked involved development of load test harnesses, profiling code and identifying bottlenecks, working on synthetically reproducing production problems, evaluate performance/scalability of systems etc.

Worked on design and development/test of features in Wasabi storage builder : iSCSI and NAS appliance. Worked on development of RAID/ work on reproducing customer issues from field, work with tech support etc. My focus was also on to test interoperability of storage box with open source implementations of iSCSI initiatiors (unh, cisco, intel etc).

Primary focus on being effective manager: Managing programs and portfolios, risk management, leading effective teams, converting strategy into execution etc
