Key Accomplishments Insurance Reform: Co-sponsored the Medical Loss Ratio Ballot Initiative, securing a 72% “Yes” vote to mandate that 83% of dental-insurance revenue be spent on patient care—a model that more than a dozen other states are now adopting. Supporting Colleagues in Crisis: Co-authored House Bill H.300 to establish the Dental Diversion Program, offering treatment instead of punishment for dental professionals facing addiction or mental‐health challenges. Alleviating the Hygiene Shortage: Co-wrote House Bill H.4842, under Dr. Fran Clairmont’s leadership, to allow qualified foreign-trained dentists to obtain hygiene licenses and expand care access statewide. Accountability: Pressed the Attorney General to enforce antitrust laws against insurers and urged MassHealth to meet federal equal‐access standards. Investing in Students: Launched $15,000 in MDS funds to open on-campus food pantries at all three Massachusetts dental schools, ensuring no student studies on an empty stomach. Mission of Mercy 2025: Under Dr. Colleen Chambers, we’re preparing hundreds of volunteers to deliver free dental care across Massachusetts on November 15, 2025. Championing Patients with Disabilities: Dr. Steven Spitz leads a Presidential Task Force to identify and solve access gaps for patients with disabilities. MassHealth Transition: Worked with Ellen Factor and Kevin Monteiro to secure financial advances for providers during MassHealth’s challenging transition. Yankee Dental Congress: Navigated an unexpected cancellation, refunded attendees promptly, and still achieved one of our most successful Congresses ever. Membership Growth: Boosted renewal rates, welcomed over 60 new members, and solidified our momentum with ADA recognition. A Grateful Farewell & Confident Look Ahead None of these achievements would have been possible without every volunteer, committee chair, district leader, student, and staff member who stepped up.

Chief Innovation Officer
Dental Cupid was formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to help alleviate the stress of patient overflow by diverting dental related emergencies to dental practices. Since its inception, Dental Cupid has enrolled a comprehensive network of dental providers from every specialty, which hospitals are utilizing to refer out dental emergencies, for which they may be ill-equipped to treat. Dental Cupid’s journey began in Massachusetts, where Dr. Abdulwaheed Abdul, a dentist and practice owner in the state, reached out to a local Boston hospital to ask how the dental profession could be supportive as healthcare workers in the pandemic. The response was that hospitals made poor “dental homes” and that it would be helpful if their medical teams had an updated dental referral list. From there, the digital platform was launched where dentists could directly enroll themselves as providers for those seeking referrals for dental emergencies in their area. The platform provides a matching service for individual patients and hospitals, seeking a dental provider. Dental providers are displayed on the site in relation to the distance from the user’s location. Dental cupid’s online directory provides the location, days and hours of operation, dental specialty and the forms of insurance accepted by the dental provider. The user can then select the dentist or dental practice and contact them directly via telephone or the web. The use of the Dental cupid is free for all parties utilizing the site with no fees or membership required. 12,000+ dental providers have already enrolled on the platform as a response to Dental Cupids call for action. Increasing access to dental care during the pandemic and beyond is what Dental Cupid is all about.

President and Chief of Oral Rehabilitation
505 WASHINGTON STREET, QUINCY, MA 02169
As founder of Lux, my role has evolved throughout the past five years. Initially, I played every conceivable part for our infantile organization, but currently I specialize in a few areas. The Chief of Oral Rehabilitation’s primary mission is to implement advanced oral reconstructive treatment for patients needing specialized care. I expanded upon those duties to include teaching practical and theoretical medicine to our doctors. Together, I facilitate in crafting complexmulti-disciplinary treatment plans. My formal teaching role includes that of instructor to clinician-interns from Boston University. My interactions serve to monitor, sustain, and improve delivery of care at Lux. Serving as President, I analyze information from formal and informal sources. Beyond our hierarchy, I routinely interview and meet with members of our clinical and administrative team. Armed with my findings I interpret, forecast, and strategize to optimize organizational effectiveness. During the current year, that has led to practice expansion and development. As president-clinician, I represent Lux in the public arena. I lead, design, negotiate, and implement our advertising campaigns while working with a predetermined budget. In particular, my interests lay in our grassroots efforts for patient recruitment. I affiliate with both government and non-government agencies in developing dental access programs. My role at Lux is nimble. I will continue to serve in any capacity that the environment calls for.
