During this training, I gained hands-on experience in the flat steel production process, starting from the steelmaking phase to the final rolling and finishing stages. I explored the full workflow of the Hot Strip Mill (HSM), including: • Ladle and tundish operations in continuous casting • Reheating furnaces and slab preparation • Sequential rolling stands and coiling systems • Automation and control systems used in thickness and shape control We also visited the maintenance workshops, where we saw how rolls and critical equipment are inspected, repaired, and prepared for reuse. This internship deepened my understanding of large-scale steel manufacturing and highlighted the precision and complexity behind producing high-quality flat steel products.

During this training, I attended a series of advanced theoretical sessions focused on quality control and assurance in industrial and petroleum projects. The program covered: • Key concepts in QA (Quality Assurance), QC (Quality Control), and QI (Quality Inspection) • The role of quality systems in large-scale construction and production environments • Overview of inspection techniques and quality documentation procedures In addition, we visited the Midor refinery expansion site, where we observed ongoing construction activities and learned about: • Real-world application of quality standards in oil & gas projects • Tasks and responsibilities of a QC engineer in the field • Basics of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and its importance in ensuring safety and reliability This training enhanced my understanding of quality management in industrial projects and gave me valuable exposure to the petroleum sector’s work environment.

• Theoretical lectures on pumps and some valves. • A simple visit to the maintenance workshops.

As part of my early industrial exposure, I visited the Rolling Section at EZDK, which includes three main mills: Bar Mill 1, Bar Mill 2, and the Rod Mill. This section is responsible for producing various long steel products such as rebar and wire rods. 🔧 During the visit, I learned about: • The full rolling process starting from billets to finished long products • The function and layout of each mill, including rolling stands, shears, and cooling beds • Differences in operation between bar and rod mills (e.g. final product size, rolling speed) • Inspection and packaging systems at the end of the line • A brief look into roll maintenance and mill setup procedures This experience gave me a solid understanding of hot rolling operations and product flow in long products manufacturing — a great foundation that supported my interest in forming processes later on.

• Theoretical lectures on quality in production (QA, QI, and QC). • Visit Midor's site and see the construction work in action and the expansion of refinery, learn about some of the tasks of a quality control engineer, and learn some information about NDT.
