About
Abbi Buxton is a globally respected gender-based violence expert with four decades of lived and professional experience in the mining sector. In 2024, she was recognised in the Global Top 100 Women in Mining for her leadership and impactful contribution to tackling GBV in the sector - in both local communities and workplaces. Abbi’s unique approach to GBV programme design and implementation at De Beers Group resulted in meaningful and accountable leadership across seven mining operations and went on to inform Anglo American’s global approach. As an expert across artisanal, small-, and large-scale mining sectors, her research has catalysed global knowledge shifts and emphasised the importance of culturally informed, evidence-based approaches to tackling complex social and human rights challenges. Abbi is currently working independently, advising and partnering with companies, international organisations, civil society, and individual sector leaders to tackle GBV and advance equality across the mining sector. abbibuxtonconsulting.com
