Conduct studies of crucial inflation drivers, focusing on underlying CPI and PCE metrics. Analyzing profit and loss attributions for a systematic portfolio manager. Conduct data collection and analysis of Federal Reserve Summary of Economic Projections to include in investor letter.

I worked through a rotational program, first learning about the Fx options brokerage business. In this role I learned about macro analysis, backtesting hypothesis, and formulating trade ideas. I learned the basics of options trading, including the various Greeks and risk management techniques. I studied the implications for FX markets following the snap French election and considered the macroeconomic impacts of various election outcomes. Additionally, I learned how to calculate the volatility of an option given an event gap using the straddle price and explored various option structures such as risk reversals, flies, strangles, and one-touch options. I then worked with a Quantitative Hedge fund and helped them data scrape information from recurring sources. I developed a Python script to retrieve data from a recurring PDF and update an existing spreadsheet database. Additionally, I used Power Automate to access the PDF from a recurring weekly email. I handled three different PDFs with varying data structures, requiring adjustments in the data scraping logic for each dataset to organize the data as needed. At the end of my internship I helped build a small language model that aimed to identify narratives in financial news stories. I began by learning how to identify narratives, reading numerous news articles in their database and writing one-sentence summaries for each. The goal was to initiate the development of a small language model capable of identifying different archetypes in text.
