Amar Mehta

Educational Resource Worker @ Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board

About

I'm completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, building a clinical foundation in behavioural modalities, emotional regulation, trauma-informed care, and psychodynamic approaches. These aren't just academic concepts to me. They shape how I show up every single day with the students I support. That belief drives everything I do, whether I'm helping a student navigate a difficult moment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, or designing a support strategy that actually fits who that student is. I'm an Educational Resource Worker supporting students with complex neurodivergent and behavioural needs across the Dufferin-Peel and Halton Catholic District School Boards. My work is grounded in trauma-informed practice, Safe Management Group (SMG) crisis intervention, and a deep respect for student dignity. I support IEP implementation, behavioural de-escalation, personal care, and inclusive learning, always using the least intrusive approach and working closely with teachers, SERTs, and multidisciplinary teams. My background also spans healthcare coordination, financial services, and assistive technology, giving me a broad perspective on supporting people navigating complex systems with empathy and clarity. I'm committed to building long-term, trust-based relationships with students and families and to growing as a mental health professional who truly understands what it means to support the whole person.
