Stonewood started in 1972 as the family firm of Neill Aitkenhead, originally trading as NMA Builders who specialised in traditional craft based skills. The Stonewood Team is now led by Matt Aitkenhead; CEO, Ben Lang; COO, Jamie Priest; Managing Director, Mike Hopkins; Operations Director and Tom Carter & Tom Tiley; Regional Directors. While the fundamental values of quality and service remain at the core of the business, Stonewood has grown considerably in recent years and we now employ a direct workforce of over 200 qualified professionals from our base at Castle Combe. While we work mainly within a 100-mile radius of our base in Wiltshire, we have been asked to go all over the South of England and will happily do so if it’s economically viable for us and our clients. We are proud of our wide range of professional and private clients who use our expertise across both traditional and contemporary designs, for period refurbishments, new build, smaller works and maintenance.
