Built in 2002, in collaboration with internationally renowned water treating companies, it now boasts a desalination capacity of 22,500 m3/day with another 10,000 m3/day. Its state of the art facilities employ technologically innovative processes to ensure high quality water that surpassed even the international standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Saudi Arabian Standard Organization (SASO). In recognition of its competence, SAWACO was the first private commercial water production plant to operate in the Kingdom with license granted by the Ministry of Water and Agriculture. Producing safe fresh water was just the prelude, making it available for everybody 24/7 is another thing. SAWACO’s sizeable fleet of HACCP certified bulk carriers improved steadily and substantially access to this clean water in the greater Jeddah area and the Western region of Saudi Arabia.
