Force Technologies: Closing the Obsolescence Gap in Long-Lifecycle Defence Systems For over 40 years, Force Technologies has solved the core problem that defence and aerospace programmes face: keeping legacy platforms operational when semiconductor manufacturers have already stopped making their components. Defence platforms often remain in service for 30, 40, or even 50 years. Yet semiconductor manufacturers typically end production runs after just 5 to 10 years. This mismatch called Design for Manufacture and Supply (DMSMS) risk—forces procurement teams to choose between costly redesigns, supply chain security threats, or programme delays. We work across three interconnected services that eliminate this risk: 1. Controlled Component Storage – Our Titan Long Term Storage facility in the UK uses nitrogen-purged, temperature and humidity-controlled storage cabinets (15–25°C, <40% RH) certified to AS9100 Rev D and BS9000. We maintain continuous environmental monitoring and audit-ready traceability. This prevents the three primary degradation mechanisms: oxidation of metal contacts, moisture absorption into plastic packages, and electrostatic discharge damage to semiconductor junctions. 2. Counterfeit Risk Mitigation – We perform AS6081 and AS6171 compliant testing to verify component authenticity before they enter critical systems. Our engineers use X-ray imaging, scanning acoustic microscopy (C-SAM), XRF material analysis, and electrical verification to detect substandard parts safeguarding supply chains where counterfeit infiltration could compromise system reliability or national security. 3. Design Re-engineering & Manufacturing – For components where no stock remains, we perform upscreening to MIL-STD-883, re-engineered manufacturing, and full test validation to original form, fit, and function.
