Dongfeng Renault Automobile Co., Ltd. (DRAC) is an automobile manufacturer jointly established by China Dongfeng Motor Corporation and France Renault S.A in Wuhan (Hubei), China. The Dongfeng Renault Project was formally approved by the National Reform and Development Commission on December 2nd, 2013. And on December 16, Dongfeng and Renault signed the Joint Venture Contract officially and was granted the approval by Ministry of Commerce on January 26, 2014. The factory is located in Huang Jin Kou Industrial Park of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, accompanied by the Supplier Park for parts production and distribution, for the improvement of supply chain efficiency, logistics costs reduction and surrounding industries’ development. DRAC will also build its own R & D center to meet the needs of synchronous development and localization. The R & D center will also undertake the development of self-owned brand vehicles, and the introduction of new energy automobiles. The plant will officially start production in the first half of 2016. DRAC will first introduce a range of attractive Renault SUV models in various market segments, followed by sedans and other vehicle models under Renault brand. Meanwhile, the joint venture will develop and launch independent vehicles of Dongfeng brand. With the current strength and capacity of Dongfeng and Renault in new energy technology, DRAC will initiate a new energy vehicle project in the near future.
