Cox Construction has enjoyed success in our highly competitive industry since 1946 by providing a superior service to people and communities in a rapidly changing world. In 1946, Russell M. Cox, began his construction career with the purchase of a used crusher and set up operations in Hillsburgh. Shortly after Cox Construction was founded. It was not long before Cox Construction Company broke into the mainstream of the construction industry. Before the end of the first year, Cox was awarded its first Department of Highways contract on Highway 24 outside Guelph. To secure the building and establishment of a firm company foundation, Cox spent its first years working predominately in Northern Ontario. After operating successfully as a gravel contractor, Mr. Cox became alert to the growing asphalt industry. To equip the company in this field, Cox Construction Company erected, in 1953, its first Portable Hot Mix Asphalt Plant on Highway 26 east of Stayner. The following year, Cox located its headquarters in Guelph. Cox Construction Limited has completed hundreds of major contracts and has worked for private individuals, general contractors, townships, counties,cities and the province of Ontario. Many of our projects have helped to build the roadway infrastructure we use today. Working at Cox Construction means being an important part of a cohesive team. At Cox Construction Limited there is no substitute for the experience of the employees, who know their jobs best. Skills and ideas are shared at all levels, and everyone contributes to our goal of building quality roads. The company employs nearly 150 people in the peak of season; most are skilled in several areas of the industry. Many of our employees have long service records, and several have celebrated 25 years or more with Cox Construction. Building on our reputation for quality and reliability has earned the Cox Construction team a prominent place in the construction industry.
